Big apologies for my lack of promptness lately. The website reorganisation is now complete. Everything lives on the cloud. There are three Watchtower Library for Mac related sites.
I think only the first will be of general interest. Project development is only interesting for those who want to file an issue or otherwise dig a litter deeper. My blog has lots of historical information, not too useful.
To help simplify the answers to questions posted in this section, I’ll post answers as posts rather than comments to previous posts. Otherwise the comment lists will grow very large.

First of all thank you for all your hard work on this wonderful program. Here is my dilema. My right click option (for copying, cutting, extracting) has stopped working on wtlb for mac. This is the case on all three of the mac’s that I am running it on. This is probably a simply fix, but not for us computer rookies. Thanks so much for your help.

Reference to your answer on WT Lib for iphone, I do have WT Lib 2007 working on my phone. I recuperated the pdb files I was using on my palm, wirelessly installed them with isilo to my iphone and I am enjoying it in French and English. Can you “compile” in pdb form the latest WT Lib so I and others have the current version?

Dear David,
I wonder if somehow your righthand mouse button has reverted to off! Look under System Preferences (the system-wide Preferences for Mac, i.e. not Watchtower Library for Mac) then select Mouse. The righthand button should be set to “Secondary Button”.

Dear Luc, The PDB files are compiled unofficially; I do not know who does it. Sounds like you want the latest PDBs. You will need to sign up for and enquire at the iphonejw Yahoo group.

There’s only one thing… is there a way to change the font for the menu?

Hello Roy, What exciting news it was to hear there is finally a way of using the WTLIB on a MAC. I’ve been a Mac user exclusively for many years. I’m still using the bound volumes to do personal study and talk prep! Thank you for all your hard work. I’m now keen to get it up and running. Unfortunately I didn’t get far before hitting a snag.
I’m running a mac mini with Snow leopard 10.6.1. When I downloaded WTLIB4MACv1.3 the disk image appeared, then I dragged the WTLIB icon to the applications folder as per the instructions. It copied across but nothing more happened.
So I found the WTLIB file in the applications folder on my hard drive and tried double clicking it to launch it. However I got an error message saying: “WTLIB quit unexpectedly… Do you wish to report this Apple?…”
There was no installation process or anything. What am I doing wrong?
Dave – Its probably a simple problem with either the downloaded file or the installed file. I’d re-download WT Lib for Mac; drag it again into the applications folder (say yes when it asks you if you want to replace the version already in your applications folder); and try to launch it again. You didn’t do anything wrong… The install process is just that simple!
If none of that works, you might update your Mac to 10.6.4. You can do that by clicking in the upper left corner on the “” logo and choose “Software Update…”

Thanks Phillip. It sounds like Dave has X11 missing. Watchtower Library for Mac requires the X11User.pkg installed. Please see FAQ about this.
Thank you Phillip and Roy. Yes it turns out it was an X11 issue. Once I installed it off the OSX Snow Leopard disk then upgraded my OS to 10.6.4 everything seemed to install fine. I’m very excited about all this. My daughter who’s a reg pioneer was seriously considering buying a new computer (not a MAC) so that she could use WTLIB. This has saved her the expense! so thank you Roy this is brilliant. Greetings from New Zealand.

Hi brother Roy, If you need any help translating the App to Spanish, let me know, it would be my pleasure helping out in this loving project, by the way this software has made the install of WTLib easy for many of our brothers, in Linux is still easy with just having the latest wine, I do this on linux all the time but Mac was always doable but a bit more involved, again thank to you and all the other brothers tha made it happen and for making it super easy for all of us!
Thanks again Roy for this amazing program! We really do appreciate the time, energy and resources you and perhaps your team has put into this for us mac users! I have tried instaling it on my imac a few months ago and it did instal fine. Even the Watchtower library installed fine. However, when I go to Applications and click on Watchtower library 2009, nothing happens. At first I thought it takes some time to load or set up, but I waited for almost an hour and nothing. I then checked the X11 program and I do have it installed. So I removed it (everything) and tried re-installing, this time with the spanish Wtlib and it produced the same result. Any ideas on what the problem may be? I sent your link to my younger brother who has a brand new macPro laptop and it works perfect on his computer but I still can’t get it to run on mine! Help! Oh and greeting from one of 5 spanish congs. in Vancouver, Canada!

I downloaded WL for Mac. Next I installed WL 2006 followed by 2009. The 2009 launched successfully. However a short cut for the library was not installed on my desktop or in the Dock by either CD. Where can I locate a short cut.

hey, i got 10.6.4. Everything i download the disk image it doesn’t open by itself to any instruction procedure. All i get it’s the icon where i drag the watchtower icon to the application. After i do that nothing prompts. After that im inserting the original cd and i get a very quick instalation image and after that nothing. Please help me out this is driving me crazy i don’t know what else to do..

I find that I have a problem with the application freezing if I use the “extract from clipboard” command from under the “Edit” menu. The little hourglass shows up and doesn’t go away.
Any suggestions. I was trying to extract the citations from a talk outline that I had copied to the clipboard.
Dear Lotta et al, Sorry about the delay in replying. We’ve been on a little holiday. Plus, it’s a really busy week with the Lancaster University Freshers’ Fair today.
Lotta, Just insert and install both CD-ROMs. You can run any number of library editions at the same time.
Portia, You should find new installed libraries in the Applications menu.
Rafael, Please try trashing the application support folder. Go to
~/Library/Application Supportand drag the folder calledWatchtower Libraryto Trash. Make sure the app isn’t running at this point. Then launch the app and try reinstalling the library CD-ROM. Hope that works.Stephen, I noticed that too. If you make your clipboard a little smaller in size, it works better.

I’ve been trying to get Majestic’s KH Schedules and followed the instructions via the FAQ page. But it won’t run properly. It comes up with an error box, click ignore and another error box appears then the program loads but with only the menu bar, the rest is blank.
I have a couple of screen shots I can send you.

1st thank you soo much for doing this. We love our macs and hate that we need to run windows. Ok so I have installed and got all the way to where the WTL09 opens up automatically but I’m unable to do anything other than look at the Day text. Any suggestions would be most helpful. Thank you again.

Ok so I quit the program then rebooted it. It’s perfect it works wonderful. Were gonna down load it on my husbands computer along with the TSwin! Thanks for simplifying us.

Dear N, You are very welcome. To run multiple languages, just install another CD, i.e. insert a second language CD-ROM and allow the installer to add the second language. You can then run both, assuming it installs correctly. The later editions 2008/9 should install and work together normally. I’ve not tested with the older versions. You can do the same again and again for as many languages as you require. Sync works too!

I have now got the English CD Rom on my mac. But when i insert the Spanish CD rom it just spits it back out. What am I doing wrong?

Does the disk get spit our without you doing anything? If so it seems that the disk must be scratched or unreadable. Try to clean the disk and insert it again. If it stays in, launch WT library and the installer should launch automatically.

thanks for you work.I love it. It was working great. I am having problems. it seems like it is freezing up. I can’t enter anything under the search bar. in the Wt icon the number (5) appears. than goes to(2).I did load the program twice because I was confused. help please
I am having so much trouble dowloading and opening this app! I first tried to download it back in 2009 when my friend gave me the link. However, something went wrong, it was only partially downloaded, I trashed the app and that was the end of it. Decided to give it another try. Followed the instructional video you provided. I saw everything happen before my eyes except the part when it was supposed to open the application. After installing the WT CD, nothing happened. I tried clicking on the icon both on the desktop and the dock but nothing happened. What am I doing wrong?
Everytime I download the disc image off the website and I check out the applications folder, the most recent date listed next to the icon reads “december 2009”. I trashed and redownloaded 5x! Happened everytime! Any thoughts?

So you mention that after you install the “WT CD”. Does that mean that you get as far as the installation of the WT CD-Rom and them after that you cannot open the program?

Yes, that is correct. Everything is installed, but the program just wont open.
so if you click on the watchtower library icon in your dock, does a little blue light show up under its icon?
if so, the program is running. click on its icon and choose the menu at the upper left corner of the screen called “Applications.” In that menu (if everything was installed correctly) there should be an option for “Watchtower Library 2009.”

Thank you brother! A lot of the friends here want to buy Macs from me (I am the only Apple Reseller in the area), and have been a little put out with having to install Windows to run the Library. You have made a great contribution to us all.

Today i have to push Ctrl+C to copy, but on my mac i normally push Cmd+C
Is there a way to make wine understand Cmd+C so my workflow gets faster?

When I copy/paste it pastes the text twice – one exact version and one modified plain version. Anyone know how to get rid of this problem?

I have installed the WT library, but it no longer works. It was working very sporadically. I did an upgrade in hope it would fix the problem. It did work a few times, but now it does not work at all.
How do I register? There is no place to put information.

I’m having a problem installing the WT Library. I had it installed previously but had to get a new hard drive installed and it was brought over. I have tried MANY times to install this. I download the disk image, move it into Applications, insert CD, and click on WT icon. It goes through the install process and says it’s finished installing. I click on the Applications and it says WT Library 2009 – English and I click on it. Nothing happens. When I quit WT Library and then go back and tried to open it, the “WT Library 2009 – English” is gone. I have tried this several times, even restarting computer after installation. Please help…..I miss my WT Library on my MAC!

Sister Hanson & Deb, We really need more information in order to help you. Is it possible for you both to file these problems as issues? On the home page, in the top right hand corner is a link to registering to file issues. This will enable you to save screenshots and logs for us to see. Hopefully we can then help you.

i’ve installed wt 2009 and all is well. however, i want to install 2006 and use both. can you give me a step by step guide to install wt 2006. i’ve tried but i’ve had no success with my installation attempts.

Dear Daniel, Sorry about the copy and paste thing. We do know about it and Roy is planning a fix in the next version.
Dear Larry, Unfortunately our program doesn’t support the 2006 version. It has a different installation process to the current versions. Sorry again.
I was able to install the cd but when I open up the program, the daily text does not appear. What may be the problem?
Just received the WT Library 2010 and followed your instructions for un-installing the 2009 version but am unable to install the 2010. It continually states there is a problem and needs to shut down. Any ideas?
Dear Fernando, I guess that you have an older edition, e.g. 2009. If the library you installed does not have today’s text included, it does not show it. Have you tried updating to 2010?

Dear Stephen, There is a video describing how to uninstall everything found here. Just ignore any ‘Framework’ references as this isn’t used anymore. Then hopefully you can start again.
Thanks, after much cleaning up and looking for any traces of files, I got it working, and also put the 2010 Watchtower.
My first computer ever began suddenly going to black screen for a few seconds while in use – quite randomly. Since the Apple geniuses were at a loss, I was given a new Mac Book Pro 2 weeks ago. The new one had the same problem, so we did an erase/re-install. All went well until I installed the WT Library (not from the external hard drive, but from your link). Immediately the problem returned. So sad! Could it be tied in with the WT Library? Will this damage the computer? Should I uninstall the Library? This is not a problem that the people at Apple seem familiar with
Dear Elaine, This isn’t something, in all the years of doing WTLFM, that we have heard of! No one else has mentioned a black screen problem. Not sure what’s going on! Sorry. As an after thought, make sure that X11 is installed in your Applications menu. If not, you can get it off your Apple installation disc.

Hello, I am having a problem with the Watchtower Library for Mac. Whenever I print a page it only print in the center and only prints part of what I wanted it too, it is like printing in a box but you don’t see the box. Is there anything to fix this because I really need to use my printer to print important information.

Instead of trying to print straight from the Watchtower Library, try to copy & paste into a text editor and print from there:
1. In Watchtower Library drag over the text you want to print to highlight it.
2. Press control + C on your keyboard to copy the block of text.
3. Open the program “TextEdit” in your applications folder.
4. Press command + V to paste.
5. Print from there.
Notice that its control in the Watchtower Library and command in TextEdit. If you reverse them, it won’t work.
Let me know if that helps.

mv ~/Downloads/Xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap
However when I go to use the wtlb all the keys work except “a” and “r”.

In the development of the application, Have you used some archives or any elements that not are legacy? What about Windows DLL? Are Its use completely free and legacy?

With the new version copy & paste no longer works. Ctrl+C in WT-Lib, Cmd+V in TextEdit has no result other than a soft beeb sound. The same when using the option from the menu bar. Is there an easy fix?
I am running Snow Leopard and have WTL 2010 installed using your WTL for Mac v2.0, which is working well. I now have the new WTL 2011 and want to replace the rs_data file in WTL 2010. I’ve done this with success in previous versions. With v2.0 I went to: Home/Library/Application support/Watchtower Library for Mac. However, the only file that shows in the folder is “Resplendent Undertow.” There’s no Watchtower Library folder, no Drive_C folder, etc. I do a “Go to Folder…” search for Drive_C, or Watchtower, or E in “Finder” but it says those folders do not exist. How can I find the rs_data file in v2.0 in Snow leopard?

I found that the folders and files in the folder “Watchtower Library for Mac” are hidden. I used the program EasyFind, checked the box to include package contents in the search, and it found the rs_data file. It has been replaced with the 2011 file and is working fine.

Once the 2.0 version was installed the copy and paste no longer works. The copy function is highlighted and I’m able to choose it but when I go to Word to paste it does not appear anything was copied to paste. Any solution? Thanks, Lenny
I had the same problem as Lenny, checked Roy’s blog, then found out that version 2.1 is available. Unfortunately, while I can manage my Mac quite well, I haven’t yet learned how to paste useful links in my messages. 2011 installed beautifully. However the keyboard mapping seems to be all messed up. For instance “n” types an “x” instead. There doesn’t even seem to be any order to the differences in the mapping. Any tips would be much appreciated.
MAC 10.5 LEOPARD: Unfortunately, I am not able to upgrade to MAC 10.6 or 10.7 due to some costly programs I am running that are not guaranteed to run on those versions. So I appreciate using version 1.3 of Watchtower Library for Mac. However, when I installed the new 2011 Watchtower Library, I noticed that the cross references and footnote links for the reference Bible are no longer available. Do I need to adjust a setting somewhere? Or do I need to install it the “back door” method by copying over the RS-DATA folder into a 2009 installation? Thanks for your help.
i can not copy some text and paste it on my open office program, is a thing i can do on a windows exploitation systems (i like to do this when i have exposer ) is it possible to do it?

I’m having the same problem as Dave. I can’t copy text out of the library for some reason. It appears to copy, but when I got to Word (for Mac), there is no option to paste (it’s greyed out).

I used to have the same problem. Someone earlier suggested to open your word processor and print a character or two first. Copy that, paste it back. After that it should work fine copying from WT library to any program. Don’t realy know why, but it works for me!
My Watchtower Library 2010 seems to be hidden. I’ve installed the 2011 Library and 2010 is still on the shelf. Where is it so I can uninstall it?

I want to again express my appreciation for all your hard work. I was using v2.1 this morning, and it quit unexpectedly. Tried to reopen, won’t. Still get error report window. Thought maybe something was wrong with wine. Went to website, re-downloaded/deleted old library and pref./installed/ reopened/ same thing. Won’t open. Any thoughts

I am running 10.6 & going from your instruction, nothing works to install the new library. I am currently on 2010 lib but I cant seem to install 2011.
I have launched the prog (not a library), inserted the disc….. nothing happens.
Also… I have dragged the setup.exe onto the watchtower dock icon… nothing works.
I have upgraded to 2.1 but still have no success… any info would be appreciated.

Firstly, thank you so much for all the work you’ve done on this project, it is greatly appreciated. I have the latest version (2.2) installed on my Mac. I have successfully installed WtLib 2011 Chinese and English Editions. The navigation text on the Chinese edition doesn’t render, only showing boxes. The articles thankfully do render properly.
Also, my biggest problem is that I can not copy and paste out of either English nor the Chinese editions into another program like Pages or anything else. It worked the first night I installed it, and then ever since it doesn’t work at all. Please reply at your earliest convenience if you can help me.
