This is a new section of the royratcliffe.me.uk site dedicated to brief and to-the-point help for installing and running Watchtower Library on your Mac computer.
We surely have not answered every question, or anticipated every problem. So please post a comment, or ask a question.

Big thanks for your help. It works really superb on my inel mac.
A little question: will this work also on a old PowerMac G4 with leopard 10.5.6?
kind regards from Belgium
How can I get the file Disk Image since your link is not working? could you help me please?
Thank you before hand
I can’t reach the download page—just a page that says:
"
Cannot start Ruby on Rails application. The directory “/home/pioneer” does not appear to be a valid Ruby on Rails application root.
"
Please help! Maybe provide a different download url?
Thanks,
Justin
Looks good Roy… I agree with Rachel! One thing though, don’t forget the “how to” as far as e-Sword. Wonderful ability and tool.
Keep up the good work!
I am having a problem. I am new to Mac so I may just have a setting that is wrong. When I through the steps for the framework it skips the destination select. The install is successful anyway but this may be an issue. After that I drag the WTLibrary icon to the applications folder and try to run it from there. it says the application quit unexpectedly and give me the following report:

Hello, i am french (i live in Vichy) sorry for my bad english,
I have a problème with running .I don’t arrive to find Bible texte(extraire) of an article. And sometimes it’s difficult to open watchtower. Mais merci beaucoup pour tout votre travail ; (I have a MacBook pro + snow Leopard)
First, a big thank you for your work on WTLIB for the Mac. I am enjoying it very much. Today I installed on my MacBook air and its working wonderfully (very fast with the SSD Drive).
My wife and I use the same laptop with two user accounts. I found that I had to install the WTLIBforMac only once, which is logical. But once I install the library from the CD, its only available for me. I then installed the CD for my wife and it works.
So the good news, it works its not a big deal, but I was wondering if there is a way to share the installation of the Library from the CD or does each user need their own install?
Thanks a bunch,
Your brother,
Chris
Thank you it works!
Only comment I have in regards to the installation process is the progress bar of the Watch Tower installer did not move to indicate how far along is left to complete the installation. Not a big deal for me but may have some wonder if it is installing or not.
Thank you very much!

I am running 10.5 and have installed X11 with the link from this site. The frame work installs great but after I move the file to applications and try to open it I get a Error message. It says “The application Watchtower Library quit unexpectedly.” Any ideas?
Roy, my upgrade to Snow Leopard is pending. I will be installing your product after the upgrade.
my question is whether or not i can install 2 versions of the WT Lib, one in English and one in Spanish.
Currently i am running Crossover, which i’m looking forward to getting rid of.
But it has allowed me to run 2 WTLibs simultaneously.
Let me know
Thanks so much.

Thank you soooooo much for providing these packages! I just installed under SnowLeopard and it seems to have worked perfectly. Thank you times a hundred! (Yay Intel-based Macs) :-)
I was quite surprised and grateful to find your website. I am using SL 10.6.2. The disk image that I downloaded was v1.2.5 dmg. I was wondering if there is a way to highlight text and then convert text to speech using either services or [system preferences, speech, speak selected text when key is pressed]. When I use my selected key combination after highlighting selected text, I receive no response. Regardless, I thank you and the others that worked on this project to make watchtower library available on the mac.
Roy,
What an amazing job! Thanks for all your hard work.
I do hope someone from the Soc checks it out; it deserves to be packaged with the next CD.
Thanks again.
I would like to know if it will work the same way for the spanish wtlib and if they will still sync?
I had been using the program fine until I upgraded to Snow Leopard. I have uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times due to bugs. Now it is working, but when it comes up, my desktop grey’s out and the program is working, but my desktop and folders are not available. When I log off of the lib, the grey background remains, and the only way I can get back to my desktop is to reload. Any ideas?
Thanks.
Thank you for the app. and the up date for snow lep.
Jehovas Blessing your brothter Akif
I installed the first disc of the Watch Tower Library in Italian. everything went well! Works.
I installed the second disk in French. The installation went well but I do not see the library in the menu so that it can’t launch it.
What can I do to launch French library?
Thank you?

Gone through the video and what does not appear is the framework installer on the desktop. Any suggestions where it may be located?
Thank You so much Brother Roy! By far the simplest way to install Watchtower Library on a Mac!
Hi Roy, thanks for the program. My question is; have you created an application to run the WT Library on the ipod touch system. Can it be done?
Many thanks, Ted.
I’m new to Mac, rookie with technology. I have a MacBook Air and I want to download the Watchtower Library but I don’t have a way to put the original Watchtower disc to complete the download. How do you copy the image of the disc so I can download it to my Mac? Is there another way to download it to my Mac? Your help is appreciated!!! Thank you.
Thank you for a profitable application that you made.
But I cannot input to search box in Japanese.
Perhaps, I think that it is a problem of originating in the specification of Wine. Are there any solutions?
I’m not good at English.
When these meaning are not transmitted, I’m sorry.
I just installed the WatchTower Library 2009 in English.
Before I had the following WatchTower Library 2008 (I, T, F, E).
After the new installation .. only the WatchTower Library 2009 start to work .. all others WTlib stopped to work correctly.
Do you know thi issue?
Maybe must we remove the old WTlib2008-E before to install the new WTlib2009-E??
thanks
cheers

Hello, first and foremost thank you for your wonderful job about WTL for Mac!
My question is about my multi-account environment. I have 3 different accounts for my family. I noticed that if I want to use WTL all around these account I must install it three times, with consequently waste of space, because the installation path is under one’s own home /Library directory. Is there the possibility to install and run WTL under the general /Library directory?
Thanks, brother.
It works just great on our mac (snow leo), we’ve 2 languages insalled and it’s synchronizing, everyting it’s supposed to do, without hassle and without cost.
Thank you very much, that was what many of us waited for.
No need anymore to use crossover or similair not really working products in order to install the library on a mac.
so thanks again.
regards
ralf
When I select the “Explore Favorites” that window never comes up as it does on Windows. The window doesn’t appear when running the WTLIB with Crossover either.
Is there a work around?
Robert
Great program
thank you very much, works fine.
There are 3 things I’d like to feedback on you though.
1- is there a way to bypass the “quit watchtower library” dialog box? It’s set to automatically start wt lib when opening but it always asks to quit wt lib when I quit. Unnecessary and not maclike. May just be Wine.
2- window location is not saved so everytime I open program I have to move it. I have my dock on the left side so program wi dow is always behind it. Is there a way to have window location saved?
3- can’t figure this out. Running wt lib with vm fusion simple copy and paste into filemaker. Cannot with watchtower library for mac. I need to copy and paste into word then copy from word I to filemaker. If I try and go direct it won’t let me parts. I get a beep instead.
These are not really major issues but it would make the program better. Thanks a lot though for the labor of love.
Sorry about the hickups with the site at times. Sometimes the comments fail to post, other times the Rails back-end running on Passenger takes a swan-dive and you see a message about “Rails application cannot start.” I’m working on this problem.
Can I run other programs?
Yes, you can run other Windows software using Watchtower Library for Mac side-by-side with libraries. But how to do it? Please follow the directions for TSwin. The instructions outline the general procedure required to install any software.
If you find your software crashing, please let us know what version of the app you are running and what version of OS X you have. As a general rule, please use the latest version. Version 1.3 supports library editions for 2008 and 2009 as well as 10.5 and 10.6 versions of OS X, Leopard and Snow Leopard. Though I think there may be an X11 issue for some machines, based on the debug dumps regarding libXfixes.
Can I install more than one library?
Yes indeed. You can install multiple libraries of different languages and different editions: as many as you like. The synchronisation feature also works.
Copy and paste.
If you use keyboard shortcuts, please be aware that you need to use Control plus C or V when interacting with Watchtower libraries. They are Windows programs, even though running on a Mac. The software does not actually know it’s running on a Mac. Of course, when interacting with the clipboard using native Mac software, you switch back to using Command plus C or V.
Regards, Roy
Hi.
Just to let you know installed your installer package last night on Intel MacBook Pro running 10.6.2 and works perfectly with the new WTLIB CD we were given at the service meeting last night.
Thanks for all your hard work. Last year I had to config the X11 and Darwine myself, but this is a peace of cake. There are many bros that have macs in our congregation and I will recommend your installer to them. (Saves me loads of time and headaches)
Thanks again.
Dan
Thank you very much for all your hard work! I just got a Mac and am grateful that you made this whole process possible. It works fine so far. The only thing is that when I go to my applications folder on my homescreen, the Watchtower icon does not show up, only the image indicating there is no image. I guess I did something wrong. Besides that, you did a great job!
Your brother,
M Mendez
Hi Roy,can i use the same software to install WT Library on to my iPhone? If so,how??? I would appreciate some instructions in this regard as i am a bit dense! Christain Love x
Hi.
M Mendez, it will eventually appear so I’m told by Roy! Apparently once you’ve run the program and approved it’s opening (only needs doing the 1st time you open it) it will then appear. This is a security feature of OS X.
Christine, I’m afraid you can’t use this with your iPhone. However you can get a version by downloading iSilo then downloading the WT Library PDB files. These are unofficially distributed via the iPhone JW group at yahoo. You need to apply for group membership. This involves verifying details from the latest KM.
Regards, Rachel
It’s me again!! Just to make it easier, here is the link to the iPhone WT library group at Yahoo.
This is just great. Makes it much easier to use the Libary and nice to dont have to launch the XP every time. I am smiling all the way to.. ;)
We’ve just received our 2009 WT CDs and I’m afraid I’m having a lot of trouble understanding how to upgrade. When I inserted the 2009 CD, it just installed 2009 with 2008 and now neither of them work for me. Do I have to start all over again (completely uninstall WTCD4MAC)?
Also, in fooling around trying to get it to work, I deleted all the entries under the “Applications” menu item. Is there something I need to do to get the other non-WT4Mac items back for it to work?
Thanks,
Vanessa
Just went ahead and completely uninstalled WT4Mac and started from scratch. Seems to be working just fine now. :)
I’m still a little nervous about the other “Applications” that I removed from the menu though (I believe one of them was “Wine Registry”?) Do I need to get them back for the WTCD to work?
Thanks again!
Vanessa
Dear Venessa,
No need to add the Wine registry back. You don’t normally need to change the registry directly yourself anyway.
Glad it’s working for you.
Thanks for making this available. Downloaded it and it’s working great.
Regards from Jer & Nat
Your comment about X11 being automatically available with Snow Leopard could be misleading. X11 is an option when Snow Leopard is installed, so some brothers may not have it installed from the beginning. In this case, WT Library does install ok, but then quits as soon as it is launched, without giving any error message.
The answer of course is to download and install X11 from the Apple website. WT Library should then work.
Hi, I have had some problem installing in Japanese. Are there additional libraries to install to get Japanese language support with Wine? The menus are all in Japanese, but the application data is all :( faces. Is it because I only have the 2007 version of WTLIB in Japanese? ( New one is ordered and on its way! )
Dear David, Thanks for the feedback. I hope my instructions are not misleading. I’ve corrected the front page, just in case. Based on my experience with Snow Leopard shipped by Apple pre-installed, X11 is already present. Of course, that’s just my experience. It may not be the same for all new machines shipped with Snow Leopard; nor may it be the experience when upgrading from 10.5 to 10.6. Hence I’ve updated the instructions.
If not installed already, X11 can also be installed from the Snow Leopard DVD.
Dear Atom (as that your real name?) for Japanese font support you need to adjust the font to one that supports Japanese characters. Press F2 to display the Properties panel; then try a few fonts for the “Browser text” other than Arial. It might be a nice idea to leave some feedback on what font works best, perhaps even leaving a Wiki how-to description at the Projects site.
Hi, thank you very much for your wonderful way to using the WTL on Mac! It works perfect on my Intel iMac OSX 10.6.2. I am looking forward for a way to using the WTL on my iPhone 3 GS.
Greetings from Germany
Rainer
Dear Roy,
Thankyou so much for this programme. So much better than having to launch Parallel’s each time. Can you help with the iPhone too? Is there anyway I can get the WT Lib on there? I understand I may have to download iSilo, but then is it a straight forward transfer? Many thanks again.
Thanks, that fixed it. Thought I had put in apps a zillion times. Must have done it wrong. Thanks again!!
Hi Roy!
Thanks so much for the help!
I’ve got Watchtower Library 1.3 and have installed WTlib09 in English and it’s running fine alongside WTlib08 in Greek. Problem is, I cannot type in Greek type in the search box when I switch to the Greek Library. I can type my search query in TextEdit.app, then copy-paste it into the search box in WTlib Greek, but obviously I would prefer it if I can skip this nuisance.
Also, as a side question: I presumed to take advantage of your software, to try and run another Windows-only application, built and sold in the Greek market for architects to calculate official documents for planning permission fees. The installer from the developers apparently runs on your ‘infrastructure’ (if I may call it that) but all greek text is garbled, rendering it unusable. It complains in greeklish (thankfully) asking my to switch the Regional Options to Greek.
Obviously I cannot launch Windows Control Panel; I was wondering though if there is some tweak I could do to your files, so it alters the regional option to allow me to work in greek.
Many thanks again, and apologies for asking with regard to other software!
Rainer and Enza, using iSilo and the unofficial PDB files is best you can get for iPhone. Please see FAQ section.
Hi Alex, Have you switched to Greek before launching Watchtower Library for Mac? This point is important. You cannot switch between input methods while the app is running. This is an intrinsic problem with Wine. It establishes its keyboard setup at launch-time only. You can fiddle with the fonts, etc. via the Registry and Wine configuration launched from the Applications menu.
Thank you Roy for the excellent program. Your hours of programming is very much appreciated. I’m a new Mac user and I purchased the Parallels program just to have access to my Watchtower library but your program works beautifully. I don’t have to switch back and forward.
Agape,
Kim
Hi Roy, You the same Roy who attended the May 2005 Accelerated Language…. Course? If so I’m a class mate. Remember me? Just loaded yoru run wtlib on a Mac software – Thrilled to bits. I have a MacBook Pro and can’t seem to right click – Any ideas?
You still in the Chinese field? Do give ‘away’ public talks? If please call me.
Kind Regards,
Alan +351 961 526 313 Skype alanandmargaret1
Dear Kim, You are very welcome. I know what you mean: very nice to have a Watchtower library without virtualisation.
Hi Alan, Long time no see. Yes, it’s me! That was a lovely time we all had at Harry Cotton’s class. I remember it very fondly. Rachel and I are still active in the Mandarin field, though less than before while serving the congregation more on the English side. I’m getting rusty at giving Mandarin public talks. Not done one for a year or so. I’ll give you a call on Skype tomorrow. It will be lovely to speak with you again!
Thanks so much Roy! I still have a little problem with the Greek in WTlib: it doesn’t accept any accented vowels.
As regards the issue with the codepage/locale settings, I haven’t figured it out yet, as I don’t know where to look in the registry (I don’t see any font related options in WINE Configuration, so I image the solution must be in the Registry).
Barring some miracle, I’m googleing…
PS Is the branch not interested in working with you a little bit, to (maybe) make it a bit easier for brothers using MacOS? Just a question!
You are welcome Alex. I thought that you could successfully type accented vowels. Hang on a minute…
I’ve just done a test. First I switched to Greek keyboard. I’m using a British keyboard but can see what a Greek one looks like using the Keyboard Viewer. Acute accent maps to my semi-colon key, the one to the right of L (lambda on the Greek keyboard). After Watchtower Library for Mac launches and the library opens, I can press semi-colon then alpha in the library search box and I see an acute-accented alpha.
Does your problem concern your architect app only, or both Watchtower library and your other app?
P.S.
I’ve written to the branch, offering to entirely donate the software to the society, gratis with no strings. But no word from them yet. A native Mac version is the best solution. For all we know, they could be working on one! I’ve had no contact from them.
Hi Roy! Wow, you’re fast responding here!
No no, the problem occurs within WT Library (I haven’t been able to run that other engineering suite yet, due to the language/codepage issue-haven’t figured out yet how to switch locale…)
Let me try and reboot my Mac; for some reason Watchtower Library is refusing to launch, all of a sudden, complaining (in Console) that maybe another X11 server is already running and that it cannot establish sockets.
Be right back!
Hi Alex, Yes, Thursday is a work day rather than ministry; so I can keep an eye on things. Please feel free to contact me directly, via Skype roy.ratcliffe or iChat royratcliffe (AIM) or royratcliffe@jabber.org (Jabber account). iChat might be more useful since we can Screen Share as well as talk. I’ll be available all this afternoon.
Hi Roy,
Right, I’ve figured it out: I was using the keyboard layout for Greek called “????” from the guys over at Vodkatini (they have published this alternative Greek keyboard driver for use with MacOS X and non-Unicode apps, and because I need it and it more or less covers all other aspects of English/Greek on my Mac I deactivate the OS native “Greek” keyboard…).
I remembered about it, so I re-activated “Greek” along with my “????” keyboard, and sure enough, when I use “Greek” all is fine in Watchtower Library.
If only I could now work out that other thing, with WINE locale…
PS Weird about London not even replying. Maybe they are quietly working on something. I certainly hope they are, anyway.
Oops! “????” in the comment above appeared after I clicked on ‘Submit’. It was meant to be “ELLINIKA” which is greek for erm… “GREEK”.
Ah, so that’s the problem. I’m glad it’s working for you now.
Regarding your other issue, is there a demo program I can download? I’ll give it a quick spin to see what I can deduce. If it’s the C locale or other Unix environment things that you need to tweak, you can invoke the app from the shell command line (via open -a) after making environment changes.
Sure, there is a demo (it’s actually the demo that I am trying to test drive).
To get the demo installer you must go to this address (sorry, it’s only in greek):
http://www.insoft.gr/downloads.htm
and in the top section, you must provide a name and email address (you can download the installer file without actually giving your true information, although I don’t know if they are needed for registration purposes later), then click on the button on the right.
When you attempt to run the downloaded amo.exe file it will complain in Greek (which will be illegible gibberish) and in greklish (which is okay for me, but for you still illegible): it urges you to switch the locale to Greek in Regional Settings, or the program will be severely handicapped. If you click OK, then you are taken to a ‘sorry for the inconvenience’ screen and urged to visit “appdb.winehq.org/” for possible further info (there is none).
That’s it. I wish I was more knowledgeable and able to contribute more! Thanks so much for all the time and help!
Alex.
Excellent program. I’m brand spanking new to Mac, and don’t know a thing about programming, but was able to get your program set up and am running the library on my new computer. It works perfectly.
I am having difficulty trying to install TMS explorer, though (a TMS scheduling program). Am not clear how to customize my applications menu. Any tips?
Keli’i
Hi Keli’i, and welcome to the bright side of computing ;-)
You can add windows applications to your WINE setup, although there is no guarantee, as some applications seem to require a lot more than what is provided.
I don’t know how TMS Explorer works on that front, but if it’s going to work, this is what you need to do:
•Run Watchtower Library; wait for it to actually show the Library program window itself; then go to the Library menu, click on ‘Exit’ to quit the Library but keep WINE (aka Watchtower Library) running. Then,
•Do one of the following (a or b): a) Drag and drop the setup.exe (or similarly named file) which would normally install TMS Explorer on your Windows PC onto the Dock icon for Watchtower Library; wait for the magic to happen; OR b) Go to Applications menu in Watchtower Library and click on Control.exe, which will invoke after some time the equivalent to the Control Panel on Windows with just one single icon for Add/Remove Programs. You can then double click that to navigate to your TMS Explorer setup.exe (or similarly named) file and install it.
•After you have done a) or b) in the previous step, go to Applications menu in Watchtower Library and select Customize… In the new window that opens, click on ‘Add Item’ on the left, then, in the new line which will show up in the main part of the window, click under ‘Name’ and enter any name you want (probably ‘TMS Explorer’ would be a good one), then under ‘Command’ enter C:\Program Files\[the path to your installed copy of TMS Explorer]‘, then in the next column, ’Shortcut’ you have the option to type in a key with which you’ll be able to launch TMS Explorer and, finally, under ‘Launch’ specify whether you want it to launch At start-up or When selected.
Hope this makes sense, and that it works for you. Post back here if you need help with any of the steps above.
Thanks for fielding that question Alex, very thorough. Much appreciated. There’s also a wiki how-to at the development site.
I’m so pleased you approve! No, seriously!
With regard to that ‘other issue’, I wonder what the easiest route might be for me to tweak the locale setting.
Or better still, which of the many internet resources to start browsing for better understanding WINE. I realize you have better things to do!
Alex, Roy
Thank you very much! I just successful in getting the TMS Explorer program running on my mac-I did just as you described, and it appears to work exactly the same as it did on the PC. I can’t even pretend to understand how your program works, but it works really well—and so easy too.Thank you again
Hi kelii,
I am very pleased all is okay!
Just to clarify: I have nothing to do with this project; everything is done by Roy, so all credit goes to him. I am just a happy user, just like you!
Hi Roy, in my search for a solution I stumbled upon this post in the winehq forum:
http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=6904&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=mac
(look for the string: “Charles, that did the trick! (LANG=ja_JP.SJIS) My wine now talks Japanese!”)
Do you think it may help me make my WINE speak Greek? If I ever got to the point of understanding how?
Hello
Owing to your hard work, I have the TMS program I use up and running. It appears the only thing left is to get the printing sorted out.
When I attempt to print a school schedule, wine wordpad pops up. Everything looks to be in order, (just how it looked in Windows XP),; however, when I click the printer icon, a blank sheet comes out of my printer. When I pick the print preview icon, a blank sheet is displayed.
I am sure that none of this is caused by your program; however, I am wondering if you might have any idea how this could be resolved.
Once again, thank you very much for all of your efforts, it is truly appreciated
Keli’i
One other note to my inquiry above. Depending on which method I use to attempt to print the school schedule (a couple of options in the TMS scheduling program), I get an error message that says “printing not implemented”. Not sure if that helps at alll, but thought I’d better put all my cards on the table.
Keli’i
Keli’i, Does printing work for you from the Watchtower Library? I’m wondering if it’s a general problem or specific to the TMS program.
Roy
Printing works perfectly from Watchtower Library—no problems at all.
Keli’i
Keli’i, It looks like there’s a problem with the TMS scheduling program when running under Wine. Have you looked at the support database at the Wine site? Or do the program authors have any suggestions?

Thank you dear brother for creating this wonderful tool for MAC users. I just got the new IMAC and was disappointed when I couldn’t install the Watchtower Library but a brother in our hall with a MAC gave me the link to your site. I procrastinated for 2 weeks before installing because I thought my new PC would blow up. However so badly wanting to do my personal study I took a leap of faith. The program installed before I knew it and I didn’t trust it was on my computer. After 20 minutes of making sure the download occurred I installed the Watchtower Library and thanks to you it worked. Thank you for creating an easy and safe way for us to do our personal study. May Jehovah bless you and I look forward to all the wonderful things you’ll invent in the New World. Your sister.
Another Thank you. This install seems to make Wtlib open much faster on my wife’s Macbook. Curt in Oregon.
Hi Roy,
Thank you very much for this software. Its awesome to have the WTLIB on mac running so seamlessly. How lovely is Sheryl Newnams comment.
Thanks again.
Bro Anthony Down Under
Thanks all for your kind feedback; you’re all very encouraging. Sorry not to reply promptly. We had the circuit visit here in Lancaster last week, plus I and eventually Rachel came down with a bad cold.
I like Sheryl’s comment too!
Hi Roy,
I have 2 G-4 computer (1 desktop and PowerBook G-4) does your software work on these . . . I downloaded and installed it, but it doesn’t work. Also I have Virtual PC running on my computer and I can’t get it to load in there. I get a failed coping files error when it is copying the data files. . .
Clarification: In Virtual PC, I tried loading directly from the Watchtower Library CD . . and it failed. I have been running previous versions of WTL since the beginning. . . Virtual PC is no longer supported by Microsoft.
Hi Robert,
Unfortunately WINE is an x86 project. In plain english this means that a G4 computer cannot run the environment which supports Roy’s Watchtower Library package. Your only solution is to run some other virtualization software, such as your own VirtualPC.
As to why that is currently not running, I am afraid I couldn’t help you. Maybe you could google your problem and see if anyone else has it, as well as some advice. One thing I would try is: setup a new User Account in Mac OS, then log into that, then try to launch VirtualPC. If it works, it would suggest the issue is limited to your own user account (i.e. not the new you just created, but the one you primarily use). If the issue persists, maybe you could try uninstalling/installing again VPC? I suppose you have gone through the standard repair permissions, maintenance tasks etc. on your Mac?
And then, maybe, it’s time to invest in a new Mac with the Intel chip? That would bring you up to phase with the bulk of software currently used, including Roy’s Watchtower Library!
Take care!
Roy;
I posted this is the other comment page but I also posted
it here because it looks like this page may be more active.
Thanks for the work. The WT library install went well and while
it’a a bit slow opening It will be even better when I can remove
VMWare from my laptop. (I need the disc space)
I do have one question though. I successfully installed Kingdom
hall schedules but ran into a problem. the command line which
requires the correct path to launch the program has the wrong
information.
The wine file show that C:\Majestic Software\KHS\ is the path where
the program is located but using that path doesn’t work.
If anyone has the correct path and the final steps to complete
the process I would be grateful.
Sonny
I have a powerbook g4. Can this program be used on this Mac?
Hi, love this tool. thanks for all your hard work.
Problem on my friends G4/Leopard10.5.8. :
“Cant run on this architecture”.
Installed X11 and tried several times.
Works well for all others, however. MAny Thanks,
Hi
thanks for this programi have just purchased a new imac and installed the watchtower library in english -
just wanted to ask you can i install the watchtower library in arabic and sychronise? or will this cause some sort of confusion…
would like to run both arabic and english from the one imac,,,,,
look forward to hearing from you
thanks again
Dear Roy:
Thank you for this application. It is a very appreciated gift. You made my open source search a closed book. Thank you very much.
P.S. It works very well on my MacBook Pro (Intel-based) with 10.5.8 (Leopard) with the Watchtower Library 2008 English.
Thank you very, very much!
Chris
Hello, I installed 2009 spanish version and it works great, but now I also want to install english version, how do I do it? I inserted the cd and a Installer Windows pops up showing the install percentage process, but then another window pops up telling me “Please close all windows of Watchtower Library before running the install” and I do this but it still wont install it.
Thank you
Thank you so much for your time into this project. I think it is great how you have protected the WT’s copyright issues in making this product…I am sure they silently support your efforts.
Now that the IPad is coming out, I would love the idea of using that with the WTL-CD. Without sounding unthankful for what you have done already, it would be very appreciated if you gave that some consideration. My wife has Multiple Sclerosis and so it is hard for her to handle traditional books at the hall – we were thinking how wonderful this sort of device could be since it is touch screen. Your obviously have the talent to do this sort of work.
Thanks again for all your efforts!

Hi, like everyone else, I’m thrilled not to be running Parallels anymore, this program is really a wonderful help! One issue, I like a few features in WT 2006 and installed that after I installed WT 2009. However, I can’t find the 2006 library anywhere! I appears to have installed properly but I can’t find it. Only 2009 opens up or can even be found. Help, please! Thanks so much.
Hello
I was able to successfully run TSWin using your program, works great!! However, I would like to copy it off of my hard drive and run the program from a detachable drive. Only problem, although it says the program is installed at “c:\tswin”, I can’t seem to find that place on my hard drive. Can someone tell me how to get there?(Newbie question, I know . . .)
Thank you very Much

Hi. Thank you very much for your program. I am encountering similar problem as posted by: Chris Morris 4 months ago. In my case, I am a newbie and installed the program. The WT Library worked well for a few days. This week, my desktop grey’s out but the library is working. Had to restart after using the library. Tried to trash the program and re-indstalled but the problem of grey background remains. Please advise.
Dear Peter,
Try the following in a Terminal window. It has happened before to a brother in Hawaii (as I recall) although rare.
defaults read uk.me.royratcliffe.Watchtower_LibraryDo you see anything about rootless?

Dear Keli’i,
Drive C corresponds to
Library/Application Support/Watchtower Libraryaccessed from your home directory.Amy, I’ve never tested it with 2006. I think it should install but there may be issues with launching. It sounds like that from your description. You will likely need to add an entry to Applications>Customise menu manually. The path should point to the 2006 library’s
WTLibrary.exeprogram.John-Paul, I agree about iPad. It would be great to have the library working on it. However, porting to iPad is similar to porting to iPhone. iPad is the same architecture as iPhone. It will need the society to do that work.
I needed help upgrading the WTLIB from 08 to 09 on my MacBook Air. Would you be so kind as to assist me? I thought I didn’t need the disk? Thank you so much.
Roy I’m having the same problem as other friends are having with the application quitting unexpectedly. i have installed the X11 program from the SNOW LEOPARD 10.5.6 as you suggested but yet I am still unable to run the program. As with the others I get this long error message and i have installed and re-installed the X11 program. now I am at wits end since I am new to the Mac OSX

Hello Roy,
Great job on the Mac WTL :-)
I’ve installed Ok and printing Ok on a Canon USB printer.
I also use an OKI 5200 over my network that does not work with direct printing from the WTL application. Lines only are produced but NO printing of characters.
However a copy/paste to Text Edit is fine.
If you have a suggestion to setup WTL for printing over the network from within the app I’d be happy to know.
Thank you.
Al
Hi brother! I very much appreciate all your work in making this possible. However, I am having some problems.
I have two macs, my macbook with leopard i have had for a year and have not had problems with wtlib. Recently however it is quitting unexpectedly, and when i tried to uninstall it (with intent of reinstalling) it says it is in use (even though its not). Now it is not coming up at all.
And the second computer is my parents and I have been trying to download WTlib for them. It is brand new with snow leopard. I tried installing this the same way as my other, and worked fine the first time i started it up. After that, however, when i opened wtlib, it would come up in the bar at the top that it was in use, but would not actually pop up, no matter what I tried. Over and over I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, but it would not be the same as the first time. The only thing i could think of at first was that maybe it wasnt in the c drive the first time i started. NOW, all that happens is a huge grey screen that i cant get out of unless i turn off the computer. PLEASE HELP this is so frustrating!!!
Thank you so very much
Myca
Hi brother. Thanks for your efforts on this project! I’m using Snow Leopard on a recent Intel iMac. Although the installation seems successful, the WTLib doesn’t start when I open the Watchtower Library app. Neither does it start when I select it from the Applications menu within the app. There are a number of errors appearing in the Console Log that may offer some insight. Could I email them to you? Thank you very much.
Dora, Please feel welcome to call me at royratcliffe (AIM) and royratcliffe@jabber.org (Jabber) via iChat. Always nice to hear from brothers and sisters around the world.
Dellary, The message about
/usr/X11/lib/libpixman-1.0.dylibmeans that it cannot find X11. You are running on Snow Leopard, so you need to install X11 which normally appears by default in Snow Leopard from the Snow Leopard installation DVD.Alchroma, I’ll try to make some time to have a look at printing.
Myca, I’m keen to help. Call me using iChat at royratcliffe (AIM) and royratcliffe@jabber.org (Jabber). That way, I can see what’s happening!
Max, Regarding email: I’m not keen on putting my email address up on the web. It’ll get picked up by spammers! You could contact me via iChat or other messenger. I’m royratcliffe (AIM) and royratcliffe@jabber.org (Jabber).

Hi, I have a 13" MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard. The installation and running of the Library worked fine for months, now all of a sudden the whole screen goes grey. The Library still works but you cannot see the desktop. I have to force quit to get the application to end. I see others have had the same issue. Have you come across anything that helps. Thanks for all of your hard work.
Hi, thanks for the work you have done. We are now able to download the wt magazines from the jw.org website. I just want to extract the scriptures from the study articles, but no matter how I try I just can’t get them. I ‘select all’, copy and control-command-C.. I can get them from the articles in the wt library though. Is it possible to get them?
Thank you so much for the help with the wtlib. I run both English and Japanese on it, along with many of us here in Japan who are mac users. We can’t seem to find a way to input Japanese into the search box however. Do you have any suggestions on how this can be done? We can cut and paste from the lib and it will search but no matter what we have tried we haven’t been able to input Japanese, so we have to search with English and sync. Any suggestions.
Thanks for replying Roy. And thanks again for this wonderful program! I think you’re right about the 2006 not launching, in fact it does not even show up in the applications folder after installation, even though it appears to be installing normally. I tried putting in a pathway under “customize” but not being much of a programmer, I don’t appear to be doing that correctly. Nothing happens when I try to launch the 2006 from the path I input. Can you advise? Or if you ever get a chance to try it out with your 2006 CDRom, please let me know how you make out with that. I love to use that year’s library to prepare for RVs. I’m just better with those features.
Hello,
I have a powermac g5 running on os x 10.4.11. I downlaoded your ‘image 1.3’
so that I can use wt library. However, the watchtower icon has a no entry sign and even after appearing in my aplication folder I can’t open the official Watchtower disc. A message reads ‘this software is not supported by this architecture’.
Please can you help?
Kindest regards,
Mark
Thank you very much I love it!
Hello I’m italian
I discovered your website today.
I donwloaded ’image 1.3 so that I can use Wt Library.
Thank you for your goog Job
I downloaded the watchtower library for Mac v1.3 but after it downloads it does automatically open but there is no framework package that i can click on to run. Hence after downloading it it is useless as i cant do anything else. Please help! Thanks alot.
Hi Brother. Your program works great though I seem to have a problem with the displayed text in the main window. I have toggled the text size options within WTL and although the size changes, the text at my preferred size of ‘larger’ appears slightly blurred. I also have WTL running on CrossOver and the text is sharp and fine there. Is there any more control over the fonts used?
I am on a Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard.
Many thanks for all your hard work.
Rob
Hi Rob, Not sure what you mean by slightly blurred. Perhaps you could load up some images showing sharp versus blurred. See Filing an Issue.
Cecilia, Sorry about the out-of-date instructions: in the latest version you don’t need to install the framework, hence missing from the disk image. Actually, it is still there, just buried within the app itself.
I would like to load WT library 2009 using Wt Library for Mac. However I already have Parallels desktop 5.0 installed and it has created virtual C drive for itself. If i try to change the drive letter to something else, the install won’t recognize it. Is there a way to create another virtual drive to put WT library in?
Thanks for your hard work to make things better for Mac users.
Frick
Margaret, Are you using Control instead of Command? Command is for Mac apps. Extracting scriptures should work. It worked when I tested it.
Thanks for the reply. I am using Command. Actually I use control+command+c but I can’t get it to work.
Dear Margaret, Does it work when you select the option from the Edit menu? Also, are you copying the text first? That feature relies on you first selecting and copying the text, then extracting.
Hi again. Yes, I do it as you say, copy first, and it still will not work. I can extract the scriptures from (for eg) any books from the wt library, but just not from the jw website articles. Thanks, I will keep trying.
Dear Margaret, Just did a test on the web site article The Right Priorities and it works. So not quite sure what’s going awry at your side.
i have an imac g5, not intel processor, can i run the wt library cd?
thanks
Dear Kesh, Please see FAQ.
This is fantastic. Thank you for the work you did and continue to do with this tool!
Hi. It was just the Wt study articles I was having trouble extracting from, I have to do it in small amounts, but I have found that if I use the large print articles I can extract the scriptures with no problem. Thanks again.
hello. sorry to post over here. but need your opinion/help. do you know any way to install WTL on google android OS?
thanks
Dear Tiago, The simple answer is: no support for Android. At least, not as far as I know. Sorry.
Hello, I installed WTLIB on Snow Leopard. I installed the 2009 version of the CDROM.
However when I click the Watchtower Library application icon, the Dock shows a little ‘1’ for about 5 seconds, then it disappears. No WTLIB windows display. Apparently something is dying, is there a way for me to troubleshoot whats happening?
I have tried installing the CDROM which forces an uninstall. Then I tried to re-install again.
Same problem after re-install of CDROM.
Is there a log or something I can look at?
Thanks
Console log messages are several hundred lines when trying to start wtlib 2009.
I’m not sure if these are just information messages or not, but most of the have to do with not finding various DLL libraries.
It seems like I have X11 installed, since the big ‘X’ displays when the application starts up for a short time…

Hi there, I’ve previously run WTlib in OSX using VMware, but your solution looks a lot cleaner. However I can’t get it to run. The install seemed to complete successfully. On launching Watchtower Library it will show 1 process running in the dock icon, but no application windows appear and the 1 process indicator disappears after a minute or so (similar to what Mike mentioned in his post). Trying to launch WTlib manually through the application menu does the same thing. Specs are:
-2.16 Macbook
-clean install of OS X v.10.6.4 (all software updates to 22/08/2010)
-WTlib 2009 english (original)
Hopefully its an easy fix?
thanks
Bayden
Hi Bayden,
I know several Brothers that have recently installed this with no issues. It’s running just fine on my Wifes’ iMac. Everyone loves the fact that you don’t need to run Windows..
I think our problems are similar. I also installed the latest Snow leopard updates. I wonder if the newest OSX update has changed something important to Wine?…
Thanks,
Mike.
Dear Mike, It sounds to me like you have the mysterious CD-ROM corruption issue. Please see http://www.royratcliffe.me.uk/2010/1/5/mysterious-problems-with-cd-roms. Do you have another CD-ROM that you might try, e.g. could you borrow one from a kind brother or sister in your congregation temporarily?
The recent Snow Leopard update only affects pasting, so far as I’m aware. I should not affect installation or launching.
Bayden, I wonder if you might try a different CD as well.
Kind regards,
Roy
Thanks Roy.
I initially tried with a backup copy of WTLib 2009, when this didn’t work I tried again with a fresh copy of 2009 straight out of the plastic. I will give it a shot with another disc, if that fails then I might try 2008 and see if that works.
Bayden
Well I tried another 2009 disc, same problem. I also tried installing from a DMG instead of the CD, still no luck. I resorted to an ISO image of WTLib 2008 and it worked perfectly. From there I tried dragging the 2009 libraries to the 2008 directory, that didnt work. So I guess I will use the 2008 edition for now … thanks
Seems to be ok? But I am not able to shut down with out shutting my macBook Pro down and then restarting? I am handicapped and slow to learn now things. any suggestions will be great fully accepted.
hanks Bill G
Dear Bill,
I don’t understand your questions exactly. Is it that the Watchtower library is prohibiting you from shutting down your computer? If thats the case you might try to first quit the Watchtower library before trying to shut down your computer. You can quit Watchtower library pressing and holding on the Watchtower icon in the dock section at the bottom of the screen. Then choose the option “quit”
If you need some more help please email me at philliphall1@gmail.com or we can chat over ichat so I can see exactly what is going on with your computer.
Phillip
Dear Bayden, Sorry about the trouble you are having with 2009. Have you tried uninstalling completely using the uninstall procedure outlined in the Videos section? I’m wondering: has the
~/Library/Application Support/Watchtower Libraryfolder got snagged up. Sometimes, renaming this then reinstalling gets things straightened out. Regards, RoyThanks again Phillip. Appreciate your help, and wish you many blessings in your ministry over there in Mexico.
I installed the Library on my imac and it was working fine for a few months. But just today when I tried to start it up, the program would show up on the top menu for a little while, then it would disappear before the program really opened up. I tried restarting the mac to see if that would clear up any glitches, but I got the same result. Do you know why I can’t start the Library anymore?
Dear Terrel, Could you check your Console log. If it complains about X fixes library or things relating to X11, my guess is that you might be running 10.5 OS X and have recently had the software upgrade that breaks Watchtower Library’s X11 dependency.
I appreciate Wt Library for Mac much…yet…we have a Canon MP560 printer, and we can only print from the rear tray using US Letter Paper size. When printing from the rear tray, it only prints an address size copy of the document. I called Canon, and they assured me it is a software issue. I can’t get to a printer dialog box in Wt Library for Mac to configure the kind of paper that I am using. We can only print now when we take a screen shot, put in on our desktop, and then print from there. We can also print regularly from everything else, except for WT Library for Mac. We are welcome to any suggestions. Thank you.
Pam,
Have you tried copying and pasting into a separate text editor?
Try selecting the text in Watchtower Library for Mac. The choose copy (control + C if you like keyboard shortcuts). Open Pages, Microsoft Word or TextEdit and paste (command + V if you like shortcuts).
You’ll notice that the text pastes twice. Its a little bug that needs to be ironed out. But if you delete the duplication of the text you should be good! You’ll also have more print options…
If you can’t figure it out… let me know and I’ll make a video for you.
Phillip
Roy,
First of all, thank you for your help and work getting WT working on our macs. Secondly I just had version 10.6.4 installed by the guy at apple (he said he was doing me a favor) anyway when I got home and tried to open WT library it didn’t open. I can’t remember the message but I removed and re’installed but it still won’t work. What do I do?
Dear Jimmie, You are very welcome. 10.6.4 is the version I use myself. No problems using that. It sounds, however, like the upgrade did not include X11. Could you make sure you have that installed. Look for a little app under Applications>Utilities. If you see X11 there, try launching it. Does it run? If missing or not launching, then X11 needs installing or repairing.
Hello and thank you very much for this Mac interface. I was wondering if you also have an interface so I can run TSWIN on Mac?
Thanks
RobE
Dear Rob, Yes. You can load up TSwin using Watchtower Library for Mac. Please see the how-to at http://developer.royratcliffe.me.uk/projects/wtlib4mac/wiki/Integrating_other_Windows_programs_with_Watchtower_Library_for_Mac.
Thank you Roy. Took a couple of goes but works a treat and saves me buying Fusion.
Thank you once again
Thank you Brother! I have been a Mac user (graphic designer and technician) since 1986 and have used the WT Library with SoftPC, Virtual PC, Crossover, Parallels and now Fusion running Win7. I have turned MANY friends onto Macs and had to deal with all these solutions with them as well. This simple free solution is MOST thankful. I will be informing them all. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Hi it me Byron i am full deaf i need want i have Version 10.4.11 and Dual 800 MHz powerpc g4 2 mb l3 cache per processor and memory 1 GB SDRAM
i really need want know need download for that Recently few month ago i get my own one mac that is why i need want know i need downlaod for that watchtower CD if not that i have to pay for again other one hard for that
Dear Byron, I am very sorry to tell you that our program does not work with G4 macs. You need an intel based one. Also you need to be running Leopard or Snow Leopard as well. We would love to help you, but we don’t know of any program that will help you to run the wtlib on a G4 mac. Really, really sorry.
Hello Brother Radcliffe,
First, I cannot register on your web site, “projects.royradcliffe.me.uk/projects/wtlib4mac” it will not let me. It keeps telling me I do not excist.
Second, The WT Library program does not work on my mac. It did for a few times, and then it stopped. I did an upgrade, but it still does not work. How can this problem be solved? I would live to be able to use the program.
Agape,
Sister Ingegerd Hanson
Roy, Thank you for your work. I very much appreciate your providing the interface for the rest of us. I am new to Mac, having just purchased an iMac with Snow Leopard 10.6.4. WT Library works fine, except when I copy and then paste to Pages. The text pastes twice, first in a large font, then in a smaller one. Have I missed something in the set up? Your Brother, Scott
Dear Scott.
The double paste is a common problem. Its only on Snow Leopard 10.6.4 and 10.6.5. It will require a patch by Roy. Sorry it cannot be fixed right now.
Sister Hanson.
We’ll need a bit more info about when it stopped working and what might be the solution.
Do you have your iChat program setup? I’d like to video chat with you and see if I can see whats on your computer.

Greetings. I am running Mac OS X on a PowerPC G5. I have installed the program successfully into applications, but that is as far as it goes. I have visited the FAQ page and followed some of the recommendations there and the answer I got was that the architecture is not supported. when I click on the start up or setup exe i get a message stating that it can not be run in DOS mode. Any ideas as to what I have done wrong or if my Power Mac is compatible? Much thanks in advance
Dear Frances, I’m afraid our software requires an Intel-based Mac. As yours is a Power PC G5 it will not work. Sorry again.
I installed your program and inserted the WTL09 in Spanish. Everything installed well and I even have a menu bar at the top of my screen. However, the actual CDROM program does not open whatsoever. I have an Intel Macbook running snow leopard. Any suggestions?
Thank you.
Dear Otniel,
If I understand you correctly the Watchtower Library for Mac program installed correctly but the CD-ROM does nothing when you insert it.
If thats the case then try this:
1. Open the Watchtower Library for Mac program you have installed.
2. Double click on the WT Library CD on your desktop.
3. Look for the file called “Setup.exe”
4. Drag that file into the Watchtower Library for Mac icon on your dock at the bottom of you screen.
You might need to wait a minute for it to open. If you can’t get the drag into the icon right then just click once on the “Setup.exe” file and go to the “File” menu at the top of your screen and choose the 6th option “Open With” from there choose “Watchtower Library for Mac.”
Hope that helps,
Phillip
A big thank you to those who involved in designing this website thus enabling me to now access the watchtower library. I phoned Bethel in Sydney, Australia, a year ago and the IT department told me there are not enough mac users to warrant making an mac friendly watchtower library. Its taken me this long to find out about your website!
Cheers,
Carolyn
I installed fine and was using it when it quit suddenly. I had installed CHS, CH, & E versions. When I restarted WTLIB english was missing. I’ve tried to re-install several times with different disks but when it gets to 89% it quits. I can still use both Chinese versions but just can’t get english working again.

Hello. I am having problems installing 2010 WTLB. I am not sure now if I still have parts of the 2009 WTLB installed or not. Have tried to change the RS feed, but still will not open. I get the following message: “Watchtower Library data files cannot be accessed. Please ensure that the necessary media is accessible and try again.” Can somebody please help? Thank you.
Will your program work with Mac Osx? I purchased this Mac in 2006. Here is my computer information. Thank you.
Hardware Overview:
Model Name: MacBook Model Identifier: MacBook1,1 Processor Name: Intel Core Duo Processor Speed: 1.83 GHz Number Of Processors: 1 Total Number Of Cores: 2 L2 Cache (per processor): 2 MB Memory: 512 MB Bus Speed: 667 MHz Boot ROM Version: MB11.0061.B03 SMC Version: 1.4f12 Serial Number: 4H633HRVU9B Sudden Motion Sensor: State: EnabledElora Decareau,
What is actually more important is the version of software that you are using. Try this:
1. Click on the “” icon in the upper left corner of your screen.
2. Choose the option “About this Mac”
3. When that window comes up you’ll see “Version 10.×.x”
What we need is for that “Version” number to be 10.5.x or 10.6.×. If it starts with 10.4.x then it won’t work. Not to worry though because you can purchase 10.6 from Apple for only $29. If you have 10.4.x then I’d make an appointment with the Genius Bar and have them help you upgrade to 10.6.
Let us know what happens,
Phillip
Hallo lieber Bruder,
I want to install two languages of WT Library on my MAC. Is that possible?
I’ve installed the ‘09 version of one language but when trying to upgrade it to ’10 version, it says that it’s encountered a serious problem and needs to shut down, saying that might have something to do with a problem or deficiency in Wine…. The ‘09 version will open though with the Daily text for the date of today, is it mixing the ’09 with ’10 version or why ids it doing this. It still says at the top that its the ’09 version.
Then when I try to install the second language it says I have to close all WT Libraries, which I do but then it won’t install….
Can you help me?
Katie,
Did you read the tutorial HERE?
If you have the 2009 discs for both languages that you’d like to install then the process would be as follows:
1. Install the 2009 version for both languages.
2. Install the patch described Did you read the tutorial HERE
If you need more help then please re-post here and we can walk you through it.
Phillip
Hello:
Thanks a lot for this library wich is very helpful. I installed the 1.3 version and after inserting the original CD ROM nothing happened. As Phillip suggested three months ago i dragged the set up.exe to the icon (Watch Tower for Mac v.1.3) and nothing happened.Later i tried to open up the set up.exe program using the application ( Watch Tower for mac v.1.3 wich is within the applications folder ) and nothing happened either. Do you have any idea ?? Definitely is not a problem of version, because it worked very well the first time i installed the app. (before I sent an “alias” of app to the trash basket when the problem begun)
Dear Damir, We really need more information to help you further. Can you go to the website and in the top right hand corner there is a link to file an issue. Please use this feature to let us know your problem. We also will need you to put a copy of your Console log in there. Open up Console, then clear the page. Try using the CD and WTLFM then copy and paste whatever comes into the log within your issue. Hope that’s all clear :-)
I just want to thank you both for your hard work and making it possible for me to run the latest Watchtower Library on my mac.
ta very much.
Roy, Thank you so much for the install instructions for wtlib & mac. Awesome!! It works perfectly in every way except for the fact that I cannot copy in Wtlib let alone paste. I know others were having trouble getting it not to paste twice. I would almost be happy if that were happening. I highlight the text but “control + c” or utility key + mouse (which is like right click) does not copy. I can print to my wireless printer from wt lib, but of course I don’t always want a whole article.
I haven’t seen my problem listed. Can you help please?
Thanks so much, Vinny, Atl
Dear Jill, Thanks for your comment. It is our great pleasure to help our bros & sis. x
Dear Vinny, This is a strange one! Ctrl C in WTLFM and Command V in a Mac app, like TextEdit, always seems to work. Have you tried pasting it into Pages, TextEdit or something similar? Extreme option is to do a total uninstall and start again. Roy is almost ready to post the new version, so you might wish to hang on for that. Sorry!!!
Hi brother..
I was just given a PowerMac G5 Dual 2.3 GHz (first mac at home – had an iMac at work) and I’m running OS X 10.5.8. I’m wondering if there is any way I can get WTLIB 2010 on this computer?
Look forward to hearing from you. And thanks for your brilliance!
Vince
Dear Vince, I’m afraid WTLFM only works with intel-based machine. Really sorry.
Hey! I have Snow Leopard 10.6.7 and I am trying to install the CD for 2010. The 2009 CD is not installed. I have only installed the “disk image 1,3”
When i´m gonna start the “watchtower for mac”- application after I dragging the icon to the application folder, I get a headliner message " =The application can not be started" and a message “-1712” . How do i fix this problem ?I very pleased if you answer my question! Thank you very much!

LION FIX – Please follow the instructions found here
I just bought a Mac computer…not a laptop the all in one type I believe it’s IMac…I want to put the WTLibrary on it but it won’t install. Not even the 2009. Will it work on my IMac? I am a new Mac user and so I did some reading from your comments and I see something about being Intel. I don’t know if this is Intel or not how can I find out if I’m able to install. One of my elders have similar and installed 2009 but I am having issues…can you help me please?
CHI Tammy
Hello Tamara,
If the iMac is new or less than 4 years old then its Intel. If its older then its not. You can tell for sure by:
1. Move your mouse to the upper left corner of your screen and you’ll find an
2. Click there and choose the option “About This Mac”
3. There is a part you’ll see that says “Processor” and if it’s Intel it will say it here.
If you do have an Intel Mac and still have problems, please try to be as specific as possible with what you did and where it stops working.
Phillip
Hello Phillip I just bought my Mac this month. Version 10.6.8/Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core 15 Memory GB 1333 MHz DDR3.
I have the Application from the cite I tried the 2010 first and it was a DOS message that came up so I deleted everything.
Then a sister in the KH told me to load the 2009 but when I try it says WTLibrary.exe has encountered serious problem and needs to close. This could be caused by a problem in program or a deficiency in WINE. You may want to check http://appdbwinehq.org for tips about running this application..or if the problem is not present under windows and has not been reported U can report 2 http;//bugs.winehq.org.
I hope you can assist me. It is greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance
Tammy
Hello I’m still looking for assistance to install the WTLibrary on my Mac….can anyone assist. The program installs I can see the 2009 WTLibrary in the folder but it won’t install…thxs. in advance
Tammy
Hello!
I found this website today, after battling a couple of hours with WineBottler.
No success there. But your application just made my life a whole lot easier, thank you!
(Installed WTLib 2008, manually replaced the database with WTLib 2010. My OS is Lion 10.7. Everything is working fine.)
Many thanks again!
Jarno H, Finland
Thank you for your help. I am not very tech savy. I managed to install Watchtower library 2009 with your help. I just upgraded to Lion. I did exactly what you said and it works beautifully. No issues. I am not sure I can install 2010. It looks a little too complicated for me. I might just stay with this until next year. I can use 2010 on the HP to confirm that the info I use is the most current. Thank you again.
Hello Roy,
What a relief to find your website and thank YOU for the great job. I recently changed over to Mac (best IT decision I have made in a long time!) … This may be a silly question but … I have a MacBook Air 11 inch which comes without a CD/DVD drive. Is there any way to still install the WT Library without having to purchase an external drive for this?
Many thanks,
Celynn (South Africa)
Dear Celynn, Doesn’t the Macbook Air come with Cd/Dvd sharing? This means that you can ‘borrow’ the optical drive from your PC/Apple computer. Here is a link to the instructions

Hello Giovanna,
The process you are going through is a tough one. While you were informed correctly that you need iSilo to run the Watchtower Library on your iPad, you were miss-informed as to the process. You CANNOT use the CD-ROM disk. You’ll need to find someone in your local area that has a special set of files specifically designed to run inside iSilo. Try to find someone in your congregation that has iSilo for iPhone or iPad and get them to help you pass the files over. If you cannot find anyone, you can visit: http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/t-tools/
Post a message there and someone will be able to help you. We cannot provide any direct links to download off the internet because of copyright issues.
Hope that helps some,
Phillip Hall
For technical question, how can I remove the duplicated WT Library 2010 English icon? I have tried everything through Mac HD folder and FAQ.
Dear Mac, If you are referring to version 2.0 of WTLFM then you need to go to the new forum for your answer. Please go to here
Just wondering where the directions for installing TSwin and e-sword went? You said that there were some other add-ons that had to be done first. There was a link on the feedback page, but clicking it referred back to your old Watchtower Library for Mac site – which I guess you’ve removed??
Dear LRM, I am sorry, but we are only supporting e-sword at present. There is a posting on our new forum regarding this. We have yet to post the instructions on getting e-sword working however. It involves downloading a separate file to make it work. This info will be available as soon as we can put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard as it were!
Hello, I have a mac version 10.6.8 – and I am unable to copy and paste from WT library. Help??
Can somebody help me please? Im using lion v10.7.2 and cannot run the WL 2010. Im a co substitute and I do really need to have this program in my mac and right now I cannot. First I typed something and different characters came up, I removed the appplication and now something about wine comes again…please I need your help brothers. Grreting from mexico.
Hi Ricardo
I’m running Lion 10.7.2 on my iMac with Watchtower Library for Mac v2.0.
Prior to installing I used CleanApp to make sure that I had removed everything concerning previous versions of WTL for Mac as well as the Watchtower library itself, though if your happy with cleaning out preferences etc yourself on your Mac then you wouldn’t need to spend $15 on CleanApp. I use it to save me a bit of time when ceasing out old apps.
Then I did a fresh install using version 2.0 and the 2010 Watchtower Library.
Everything works fine for me. No problems with the British keyboard setup or with cutting and pasting. Have to say for a wine product I’m impressed. Well done to Roy & Rachel for all their hard work. I appreciate it.
Hi from a very cold, wet and windy Scotland
Thanks Allan for your reply. I have tried to erease everything. When you said: “I installed using version 2.0” what do you mean? Maybe I need that???
Ricardo,
I think you do need to download version 2.0 from Roy’s website. I just upgraded to lion and had to use that version. It should install with no problems.
Hi, for some reason I have two watchtower icons inside watchtower for mac program. I also installed other pc programs in it and I don’t want them. I would like to remove or unistall those programs in watchtower for mac.
I removed it from applications, reinstalled it but they’re still there.
just want to say thank you for making it possible for me to use wtlib on my mac. can’t imagine life without it : )
The download is fine, the WT library runs yet when I try to take setup.exe and place it on the board, it’s white and keeps giving me error messages. It’s an original disk that works on other laps.
Help please…..

Dear Natacha, Could you give us more details and post it in the forum. What is white? The Watchtower Library icon or the bookshelf? When does it turn white etc. Many thanks.
Dear Saule, Please see the post regarding this in the forum.
Dear Heather, Please see the post in the forum that details how to go about synchronisation.
Dear Kathleen, Mac OS X Leopard users can only run the Library using version 1.3 of our program. Please ignore any framework references, these were for an old version. Sorry for the confusion. Please see this page for more details.
I have successfully installed the 2011 version on my MacBook Air running Snow Leopard and would now like to uninstall the 2010 version. Your FAQ site seems to indicate that this is done by inserting the 2010 version disk and it asks you if you’d like to uninstall… this does not happen for me. Any suggestions?
I seem to have the same issue as Mark – I have the 2010 English, French, and Portuguese running fine. Went to install the 2011 versions however uninstall never appears as an option. It actually installed what seems to be another instance of the English 2011 library so now there are two. If I click on the 2011 icon or the new 2010 icon nothing happens. The original will still open though. Do I have to uninstall the application entirely to get this to work?
Thanks.
Hello friends. First I wanna thank you for your selfless work and all the time you’ve put into making everyone with a Macs life easier with your product and support. It is very much appreciated.
I have a bit of a glitch I can’t get past. I downloaded the app cleaner cleaned up the old stuff and reinstalled everything on my iMac. I am running lion and installed the new Wtl 2011 edition in Spanish and English. I works great. I went through the exact same process on my wife’s 13in MacBook pro. Everything runs and opens but I can’t copy and paste onto word. When I tell it to copy on Wtl it does, but it does seem to make it to my clipboard because when I go to word to paste, it is grayed out like there is nothing there to paste. Do you have any idea why? I tried using app cleaner and repeating the whole process. Nothiing. And suggestions? Thanks
I have downloaded Wlib on my mac, problem with the keyboard! Im in Hawaii so the fix for the download did not work, is there anything I can do?
REGARDING TMS Explorer.
I read the instruction post 2 years ago about installing TMS and successfully installed the program in the new version of WT Lib for Mac.
BUT I could not proceed with the second part of the process, (go to Applications menu in Watchtower Library and select Customize…) since I cannot find the an Application menu?
As it is I cannot get TMS to start up now? :-(
Can someone offer me some help?

I am running Mac OS X version 10.5.8 When I try to install the software program I receive a message that it will not work on my version of OS. Is there anything I can do?
I am trying to install your download for a friend. She has a laptop and her system, I believe is Leopard 10.5.8. Processor: 2.4 GHz intel cord Duo. Memory – 2 GB 667M DDR2 SD Ram.
The Watchtower Library will not install properly or open when we install the latest version. When we try to install 3.1 for Leopard it installs properly and then crashes when we try to open it.
The help info for Leopard also says to insert the official CD from the Watchtower but this doesn’t seem to do anything. It won’t install or open.
The system already has the X11.
I am at a loss as to what to do from here. Please help
I’m tied to a mac for my job but love to be able to look up the text and work on other assignments at ‘lunch’. I have used wt lib for mac for at least 3 years now virtually problem free (the problems I ddi encountered were quickly fixed by a visit to this site and a quick patch). …so I am just now getting around to extending a BIG THANK YOU to you all… Keep up the good work! -James S, CO, USA
This program & application has been great to use, thank you very much for the uploading & instructions. One question that I have is about copying & pasting information from the CD-ROM to a word document or other formats such as email. I have been unable to do so, is this possible?
Latest version of OS seemed to have done a number on the application. MacBook Pro running version 10.8.2
No longer can resize the WT Lib window, move it, or click on it to bring it to front.
